I was wondering if anybody knows of a re-order algorithm for purchase quantity module that Odoo may have either as a base functionality or as a community module somewhere.

What I would like is for Odoo to suggest a procurement quantity based on past movements for that SKU.  We have a commercial business which has about 2,000 SKUs.  We are starting to add the re-order points for each one which is great, but we would like to know how Odoo suggests the new quantity to be ordered in the Draft PO it creates and if there is any way to alter that based on historic movement of that stock or if Odoo already calculates that.

Have you seen https://apps.openerp.com/apps/modules/7.0/stock_reord_rule/ ?

It was written for version 7.0, but still may be useful instead of starting from scratch.

Ok thanks, but what algorithm does Odoo currently use?

It doesn't use an algorithm. It uses the reorder point entered by the user.
