Today * Odoo announced [1] * that they will be changing their license for Odoo v9 from * AGPLv3 [2] * to * LGPLv3 [3] *. The main difference is that now module developers do not have to provide source code for their modules to their customers allowing developers to have more control over their intellectual property. (see * Google doc [4] * for all of the changes).
These changes are schedule for Odoo v9 as long as Odoo can get all code contributors to agree to the change (2% of Odoo base code has been written by the Odoo Community).

Its all simple mean odoo going to become closed source code for their own new development and codes, they special things not share, developer free to keep private code, but here odoo get more profit because they keep private new features and modules as they needed. Already odoo logo and front-end footer you must need to keep so not profit to developer or companies. "BAD POLICIES NEVER WELL EXPLAINED."
"The main difference is that now module developers do not have to provide source code for their modules to their customers "
This means that Odoo 9 will not provide source code?,
No. It means customers who wish not to share the code from modules they have developed will be permitted to do this under the new license.
Who share codes & latest module till date? Only features is minor or not much then people share stuffs. else till date online people sale module too.

Hello, I would like to know if I buy a theme for CMS odoo with LGLP license, I can not use modules AGLP? As the modules of the OCA?
@Ermin - I believe a "Hostile SaaS Offering" is when another company takes your open source software ("adopting the core" I presume), potentially enhances it, then offers it as their SaaS and gives you no credit/income. Meanwhile, I see that the announced time frame for Release 9 and the new LGPL3 license is June 2015. Is that still on target? I don't see any release 9 effort in the git system. Anyway to get access to this effort now to start reviewing it for consideration. The move away from AGPL3 is pretty important to our client.
Does anybody know what "Hostile SaaS Offering" means, and "adapt the core"?
