Odoo 18 seems to convert images automatically to webp when you upload them to a product.
I hope that there is a setting somewhere that could be used to switch off this default behaviour.
I prefer to keep the images in their default format, without degrading their quality.
Product Documents can be shared on the website if you want to provide an option to download uncompressed image assets.
To change the automatic conversion to WebP you would need code changes (ie: customization).
Since SEO is signficantly impacted by image size so be sure to review the cost / benefit of such a change (review the LCP & INP metrics).

This is a bit odd that such a decision is made on behalf of the user. I do not like that images get converted without my consent, especially when the quality is not the same. Why is there not a setting to disable such behaviour?
