Clarifying "Bounce messages" configuration in Odoo

Question

How "Bouced Messages" work in Odoo, what are the "Actions to perform on Incoming Mails" and the "Advanced Options" to configure and other Odoo and/or Mail Server settings so that these messages are properly catalogued within the system?
