I would like to know how to set a new default product category other than the "All Products" listed in the warehouse module of OpenERP 7.x.

I am aware that I could just change the name of the default, default "All Products", however in this case I have deleted this category already and wish to set a new one as the standard default which products are set to when doing a quick create.

1. Activate DEVELOPER MODE.

2. Open the PRODUCT form view in EDIT mode (either create a new product, or edit an existing one).

3. Set the CATEGORY to the value you want to be the default.

4. From the DEBUG VIEW# dropdown, select SET DEFAULTS.

5. Choose the INTERNAL CATEGORY = {YOUR VALUE} and decide if this is for ALL USERS, or just the CURRENT USER.

6. Manage defaults from SETTINGS --> TECHNICAL -->  ACTIONS --> USER DEFINED DEFAULTS

That was realy nice and save my time. I tried to develop and app for this but failed before I reached out to #Ray Carnes and found his steps to the solution.
