What is the difference between standard V7 and Saas V7. I see that on contract in the saas, you have a recurring interval. On standard V7 addons, that is not there.

OK, but i read that there are no changes between the code. But is seems the code is different. Do the use trunk code?

Best Answer

The current official version is v7.

SaaS customers do not run on the latest stable version, but on the future one. (trunk, which will be the future v8). OpenERP Online users are automatically upgraded every month. That's why they benefit from new features like recurring contracts, Im, new sales team, mass mailing...

This is a huge benefit for both online and on premise users:

  • online users can benefit from new features every month. The risk of regression is higly reduced as OpenERP SA do extensive tests before monthly upgrade and potential issues are fixed within a few hours.
  • on premise users will benefit from a very stable new version the day version 8 will be released as it is already used by thousands of users.
