For Odoo v.16, should the inventory current stock in my Virtual Location/Inventory Adjustment account be zero?

For instance,

  • I have a product that has 3,647 quantity on hand in the Inventory Adjustment account (so we have adjusted a total of 3647 units). Should I set this to zero?
  • I also have products in the same Inventory Adjustment account that have a negative quantity on hand (eg. -1377.00), should this also be zero?

Thank you!

Thanks Lars, your answer helped me also.

I have a point on this, when showing the list of products with it location in a column (Inventory Location) Odoo (at leat in v18) is taking Inventory Adjustment location. I mean; I have 10 products than have been adjusted from Inventory Adjustment (-1) to WH/stock/Location (1), ok, now as a Inventory Location in Product list I see Inventory Location.

Do you have any idea why?. Thank you.

You do not need to do anything with stock in Virtual Locations. These quantities are not in your stock.  Only stock in internal locations hold your actual stock and have value.

Odoo uses virtual location to post stock movements in and out of your actual stock.  When you receive from a vendor it post out of virtual stock/vendor.  There you can see a big minus qty.  When you send to customer it post into virtual stock / customer.   And the same for inventory adjustment.  When you increase your stock with an Inventory adjustment transaction, it post a minus from Virtual Location / inventory adjustment.

But another question you should look into: Why do you have so much inventory adjustment?
