The purpose of this document

To guide users who need to customize the tax report.
The use case is when using ‘group of tax’ on the journal entry and expecting to see tax reports in separate items.
The document is based on Odoo 17.

 

Application of this document

Even though the example is based in Canada,

Other clients can benefit if you are trying to see the breakdown of the tax report.

Setup Account tags

  1. In the Accounting application > Create account tags.
  2. Customized tag name with +/-
  3. Select ‘taxes’ in the applicability field.
  4. The country field is optional.

Setup Taxes

1. Tax

    1.1 In the Accounting app, create a tax or modify the existing tax.

    1.2 In the Definition tab > 100 of the tax line, select the account tag (tax) in the tax grids column.

    1.3 In the advanced options tab, select modify label on invoice and tax group





    2. Group of Taxes

    2.1 Create another tax or modify an existing tax, and choose the ‘group of tax’ in the tax computation.


    Workflow


    Invoice

    1.1 Create an invoice, selecting the GST +PST tax (group of tax).

    1.2 See the bottom, which breaks into two labels of tax.

    1.3 Odoo breaks two taxes into two different tax grids in the journal item tab.



    Tax report

    With the two different tax grids in the invoice and journal item, the tax report breaks into two separate lines.
