Hi

We are going live with Odoo Enterprise 10 from 1st October 2017. I need your suggestion on opening balances, do I need to upload opening balances as on 30 Sept 2017?

if I am uploading opening balances as on 01st Jan 2017, then how to enter during the year balances?

Please note: It is not feasible for the customer to enter each sale, purchase, expense transactions from Jan 2017 till Sept 2017.

Kindly suggest as per your expertise in Odoo 10.

Hi Anwar,

Basically accounting data migration can happen at beginning of a fiscal year or mid year:

1. When done at beginning of a fiscal year, you have only a few data to import (balance sheet accounts) because accounts of the Profit and loss are zeroed out at beginning of every financial year.

2. When done mid-year (as it seems you will be doing) you can print your ending trial balance from current system as of Sept 30th and import it in Odoo via a journal entry. However, you will not be able to do full year detailed reporting as your fiscal year data is split across 2 software.

In any case, it's good idea to ask expert advice from the customer's (or any) chattered accountant.

You can import each month in 2017 as a Journal Entry, and even do the same for previous years like 2016 and 2015.

This way you can still run comparison reports for 2017 against the month, quarter or time period in 2016 and 2015.
