How would be the procedure to make quotations for products that are not standarized, on a business which products are constructed depending on the client necesities.
Do we need to create on the go a new, fictional product, entering components on the bom lines or is it an other way which would not mess the actual inventory?

It depends on what you are interested in tracking. For example, if you are not interested in tracking all the details/variations of the product you can set up one generic product and use the Description field in the Quotation, Sales Order and Invoice to specify the details of the product to the customer.
