Hi, 


We have a website that comes with 2 different language options.

By default, the selected language is, as in the backend, Dutch. 

The extra option is for English.


I have been translating the Dutch version to English through the translate function of the website, but after a few days, things turn back to Dutch, or the other way around, meaning that the original text changes to its english translation. 

This has been going on for quite a while and I have never received adequate support, even though I also send screenshots and videos. 


Another issue is that anytime we change something like this, the footer also gets messed up. 

I have spent hours trying to fix all these issues, only to end up fixing them a couple days later, again.


Odoo has been acting crazy and I cannot figure it out with them, so I am asking for your help here. Has anyone encountered the same issues?

As an Odoo Enterprise User. You did consult odoo and open a ticket right ?
Where is your odoo partner who made your Odoo implementation ?

Thanks for the answer. I am aware of how the translations mode works with the 2 colours. 

The issue is that I translate something, so it becomes green, and after a couple of days it needs to be translated again. 

Or, the Dutch version, gets replaced by the English translation.


To answer your other question, I have opened multiple tickets, leading to nowhere. 

Once I was told that there is a bug in the code and they had to make an update on their side.
After a few days the issue was there again and despite the tickets, we have not figured it out yet. 

I aknowledge that this can be something hard to track and solve, but it is not like I can just let our website messed up until they come up with a solution.

Sorry to here that you had bad experience with the odoo enterprise support team but have you reach to a partner they can be very helpful and have more time than the support time.

Thanks @Amr, I have but it is also something related to the core of Odoo.

Just to make sure there is no problem with your database try duplicating it and try to make the website's main language as "English" and the translate every term to Dutch. Or create a new database for test purposes.

Odoo highlights the translations with 2 colors green and yellow:

Green is for translated terms.
Yellow for untranslated terms.

So you have to translate every paragraph on it's own not the whole page at once.
After you test everything and everything seems valid then apply it to your main production database.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a caching issue or a problem with how translations are stored in Odoo. Check to ensure that your translation settings are correctly configured and that you are saving changes properly. Additionally, consider clearing your website cache after making any translations to see if that helps maintain your changes.

Hi George,

I already experienced the same issue and also involved the odoo bug team at that time.

the issue came, because at the beginning we made the page with main language "english" but then one day decided to make it German as main language, so we switched. And this switching confused odoo and we had the same issues with the translations.

When i changed only minor things in texts, odoo created a completely new entry in the background. there we some sentences, where over the time i made 4 changes and therefore had 10 almost duplicate entries of it (hard to explain without screenshot, sorry) - 5 in english and 5 in German. usually when you chance minor things, odoo does not create a new entry but rework the old one.

I'm talking about the entries which you find in the website module -> Site -> pages -> bug symbol (gotta be in the developer mode).

there you see the view with the architecture of the page and on the right side you can see a small "EN" or "DE" or whatever language. When you click on that, i will open in a pop up all the translated terms and fore sure you will also have a lot of duplicates there.

sad truth: the only solution i found was reworking the whole website.

I'm not sure anymore if it was sufficient to work page by page (so delete the whole page and create it new) or if i had to delete the whole website and start again- its some time ago, sorry.

But maybe you can, before you do that, export all of your translations from the website and then import them again - you would need to test that by your own.
