This question has been flagged

One of our warehouse locations was mistakenly set up as a scrap location. Now when I try to deselect the setting I get the message:

"You cannot change the location type or its use as a scrap location as there are products reserved in this location. Please unreserve the products first."

In reality, when I check for reserved products, none are in this actual location but at another location in the same warehouse.

I can live with this location flagged as a Scrap Location if we were able to ignore it, but I want that my default when I scrap items is Virtual Locations/Scrap - currently it is the incorrectly flagged scrap location which is the default scrap location. How can I set Virtual Locations/Scrap as the default?

As a follow-up question, when I scrap a product how can I record the reason for scrapping it such that I can do analysis on all scrapped products later?

Thanks!

You can set a default Scrap location by:
1. Activating the developer mode
2. Under inventory->operations, create a scrap order and select the desired scrap location
3. Open debug->set defaults and select the scrap location which should be the default and save it for you or for all users

Hi,

I can provide you with general guidance on how to deselect a warehouse location as a scrap location in Odoo. Keep in mind that the steps might vary slightly depending on the Odoo version and the modules installed. Here's a general guide that you can follow:

  1. Login to Odoo: Access your Odoo instance using your credentials.
  2. Go to Inventory Module: Navigate to the Inventory module in Odoo.
  3. Configuration Settings:
    • Look for the configuration settings related to inventory or warehouse. This is typically found in the configuration menu or settings.
    • Check if there is an option related to scrap locations or default locations.
  4. Locate the Scrap Location:
    • Find the location settings where scrap locations are defined.
    • In some versions, you may need to go to Configuration > Warehouse Management > Locations.
  5. Edit Scrap Location:
    • Once you locate the scrap location, there should be an option to edit the location settings.
    • Look for a checkbox or option that designates the location as a scrap location.
  6. Deselect the Scrap Location:
    • If there is a checkbox, uncheck it to deselect the location as a scrap location.
    • If there's an option to select a default scrap location, make sure it is set to another location or none.
  7. Save Changes:
    • After making the necessary changes, save the modifications.
  8. Check Configuration:
    • Verify the changes by going back to the configuration settings or scrap location settings to ensure that the location is no longer designated as a scrap location.
  9. Update Configuration:
    • If there's an option to apply changes or update configuration settings, make sure to do so.

Hope it helps

Thanks for your reply; this is the method I was trying but I when I try to save the location after deselecting the 'Is a scrap location' option, I get the error message:
"You cannot change the location type or its use as a scrap location as there are products reserved in this location. Please unreserve the products first."
