Hi,

In Odoo, you can import journal entries via Excel using the "Accounting" module. To import journal entries, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Prepare Your Excel File:
    • Create an Excel spreadsheet with the necessary columns for your journal entry data. At a minimum, you will need the following columns:
      • Date
      • Reference (optional)
      • Journal
      • Partner (optional)
      • Debit
      • Credit
      • Account
      • Analytic Account (if you are working with analytic distribution)
  2. Save the Excel File:
    • Save your Excel file in a compatible format like CSV (Comma Separated Values) or XLSX.
  3. Install the "Accounting" Module (if not already installed):
    • Make sure the "Accounting" module is installed and configured in your Odoo instance.
  4. Access the "Journal Entries" Menu:
    • Go to the "Accounting" module in Odoo and navigate to the "Accounting" menu.
  5. Click on "Journal Entries":
    • Select "Journal Entries" from the submenu. This will open the list of journal entries.
  6. Import Journal Entries:
    • Click the "Import" button to start the import process. This will open the import wizard.
  7. Configure Import Settings:
    • In the import wizard, you can configure the import settings:
      • Choose your file format (CSV or XLSX).
      • Select the separator character (if using CSV).
      • Map the columns in your Excel file to the corresponding fields in Odoo. Make sure to map the Analytic Account field appropriately.
  8. Validate and Confirm:
    • After mapping all the required fields, click the "Validate" button to validate your data. Odoo will check for errors and missing information.
    • Once the data is validated, click the "Confirm" button to import the journal entries.
  9. Review Imported Entries:
    • After the import is complete, you can review the imported journal entries in Odoo. You may need to reconcile entries and perform any necessary adjustments.

Please note that the exact steps may vary depending on the version of Odoo you are using. Additionally, it's important to ensure that your Excel file is correctly formatted, and the mapping of columns is accurate to avoid errors during the import process.

Always back up your data before performing bulk imports, and test the process with a small dataset to ensure everything works as expected.

Hope it helps

I am getting following error. Can you help?

'FDS 5295_FSD_ISUZU,Workshop-LHR' does not seem to be a valid JSON for field 'Invoice lines/Analytic Distribution' at multiple rows

How do you add filter or view to show the analytic accounts on the journal entries? When I click accounting- journal entries I don’t see analytic accounts visible as a column
