The Spanish Education Team
Odoo has been working on the education program in Spain for almost two years now, with a dedicated team from the Valencia office. Opening the Valencian headquarters 3 years ago, Odoo in Spain has not stopped growing since then. Growth such as the increase in the number of users, the development and improvements in the Spanish localization for the software, the growth of the staff, the evolution of the official Partners and the exponential rise in the teaching of Odoo in classrooms.
Although Odoo was already covering the Spanish market from the headquarters in Belgium, having the team working on-site has facilitated the development of the software and its presence in the market. For example, from January to July 2025, more than 5000 educational databases have been created and there are more than 10,000 active users of the educational software, reflecting the impact of Odoo's education program in Spain.
To make all this possible, during the 2024-25 academic year, more than 200 hours of training have been given to teachers in schools all over Spain. This translates into trained teachers who are already using Odoo in their classrooms.
The Department of Education has wasted no time in this last year, from the expansion of the program itself with new initiatives such as the Odoo Challenge, to the signing of the collaboration agreement "Alianza por la FP" in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.
What does the education plan consist of?
The education program in Odoo is not just about delivering materials to teach the use of the system. It is a support to teachers and students, a planning of subjects and classes, the creation of new challenges for the students and, mainly, to prepare the current generation for the jobs of the future.
This is done by training teachers from universities and training centers, so that they can then train the students themselves. Accompanying the first classes, presenting Odoo and everything related to the ERP ecosystem, i.e. everything necessary to understand the importance of using a software for any company.
Why is it being taught?
The nature of Odoo as a complete ERP system, open source, with one of the most competitive prices in the market for users and totally free for the educational program, makes it perfect for learning. It is such a complete product that it allows the student to feel the reality of what the future job will be like.
In short, the real needs of the market determine the training necessary to be prepared. Digital management systems are already being used, so teaching how they work is key. For this reason, for the infinite possibilities offered by Odoo and the 0 price for teaching, Odoo is one of the favorite systems for educational centers to teach the operation of ERP.
Every day more and more companies go digital, it is a reality. Thanks to measures such as the Crea y Crece Law, this is becoming easier and easier. In addition, measures such as the Anti-Fraud Law, which brings with it the new VeriFactu invoice verification system, will lead both companies and freelancers to digitize, at the very least, their invoicing.
For professors teaching Odoo the choice is clear. Odoo makes it possible to teach the necessary modules in each subject, to give students the autonomy to create their own database and to explore the possibilities, seeing first-hand how it works today. If we add the ease of integrating Odoo, thanks to its intuitive UX and the support of the educational team, the choice of teachers is even easier, Odoo is a clear solution.
Moreover, the response of the students is very positive, from those who are interested in employability to those who consider entrepreneurship, seeing the importance of having a system like Odoo from the beginning, facilitating the creation and management of the company.
To complete the circle, Odoo has always been focused on creating a community, the open source nature that allows anyone to interact with the interface, develop, modify and test endlessly, has been brought to the entire ecosystem. Focusing on collaboration between all profiles that can be connected to Odoo, from partners to employees, from users to students.
How far have we come?
Currently, more than 10 universities in Spain are putting theory into practice with Odoo, among them in Valencia: the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Edem, ESIC and the European University of Valencia. Furthermore, the collaboration is not limited to universities, the list of professional training centers is also extensive.
Having the team in Valencia does not limit the impact to the Community, as places like the University of Malaga, the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Balearic Teacher Training Center and FP Politècnics in Barcelona, have received training and support from the Odoo education team.
These numbers are increasing all the time, as more and more educational centers are requiring further training. Odoo's commitment remains with the student and that is why we try to reach all the centers that need help. There is no doubt that knowledge of an ERP is fundamental for the future. Employability is crucial, more and more companies will use ERP systems and knowing how they work will make the incorporation to the job more agile.
Looking inwards, at Odoo Spain we have profiles that applied for their position after an Odoo visit to their classroom. In both cases, representatives of the educational program went to the respective universities to give a course on Odoo. This aroused interest in the company for some profiles and eventually they applied and were hired.
This is just one example of the impact of both Odoo and the educational program on companies, students and the future of both. The employability generated by Odoo is not only for the company itself, but also for Partners, companies that use the software, entrepreneurs who need a digital management system, etc.
In short, in less than two years the education team has managed to establish itself in educational centers, ensuring Odoo courses in more than one degree and VET, creating employability and continuing to expand projects in order to reach more centers and more students.
