Hello,

In my setup I want sales staff to be responsible for all activities up until confirming a quotation as a sales order. After this point a different department deals with the customer.

To keep the sales staff screen clear (rather than a security issue) I would like to alter the view under Settings->Technical->User Interface->View to only allow certain groups. However, I do not know which view I need to do this for.

How does one go about finding the technical name for the view they are looking at, so as to know which view to alter?

Thanks, Lawrence

Hi, For find out the name of everything what I do is :

  1. in the upper right corner, go to "About OpenErp", and "Activate the developer mode"
  2. then go to the view you want to know the name and in the select box (that appear with the developer mode) you choose "Edit View" or "Edit FormView" deppending on the kind of view you are seeing;
  3. a window will open with a form where you can see the "View Name".

I don't know if this helps you, but I try =)

That's perfect- thanks! How do you deactivate the developer mode?

Go to the Url and delete "?debug=". Example: Before-> http://localhost:8069/?debug=#action=101; After http://localhost:8069/#action=101

I do not know if it's the right way but it's like I do.

For the particular example I gave, I've noticed that the Menu Item (Settings->Technical->User Interface->Menu Items) should be modified to give the group who access should be allowed.

However, the question regarding how to find the technical name for a view remains- for example in the instant where I want to change the group who can use buttons etc.

Thanks Lawrence
