When attempting to import my current customers, I'm receiving the following error:

No matching record found for name 'My Customer' in field 'Company' at row 8822
This FEELS as if Odoo is trying to make an association to a different "company" table, but can't a row to associate.  Where do I need to import Company names first?

I'm following instructions from the following page:

https://www.odoo.com/documentation/user/11.0/general/base_import/import_faq.html

Thanks

Lukas

Company field is related to res.company(Setttings >>Users>> Companys) in odoo.

If you will not set this field in import customer process then by default system will take login user company.

You can export company details from ( Settings >> Users >>Companys) and add external id of company in importable file.

This field WAS set on the import customer Excel sheet, but was not automatically created. Please see the error message above. It can't find 'My Customer' in the customer table.

If you're insinuating that the company needs to be added first, then the documentation should reflect that. However, my guess is that the intent is for the company to be automatically created.
