Can any one explain how to configure default taxes for products in odoo?

If you want to set default taxes for product so you can do that from product form, you can select customer tax in "General Information" Tab and the vendor taxes in the "vendor" Tab.
Try this:
Go to the "Inventory" module, select "Configuration" from the submenu, and click on "Settings" , then select "Invoicing" on the left side menu. You should be able to change Defult Taxes there.

To set the default tax for a product category, go to the "Inventory" module, select "Configuration" from the submenu, and click on "Product Categories." Open the desired category and set the default tax in the "Accounting" tab.
To set the default tax for a specific product, go to the "Inventory" module, select "Products" from the submenu, and open the product you want to configure. In the product form, go to the "Accounting" tab and set the default tax.
And the default tax will be applied automatically whenever you create an invoice or a sales order related to the configured product or product category.
