Difference between email alias in crm sales team and email alias in crm configuration under incoming emails

Hello everything,

I was checking functionality of incoming mail servers and email alias where i got to know that we can create Leads from incoming mails. While creating leads, I got two options from where i can generate leads from incoming mails. First is from sales team where we can setup the email alias and second option is from crm settings where we have to enable leads option and then we have to enable incoming mails option where we can setup email alias.

So i have query that, Are these two options work same or there are difference between these two options? 

Please guide me about these two options.

Hello Gautam,

Both the email alias features in odoo 14 work to generate leads. But the first email alias is used to generate lead when you receive an email directly on your sales team email address. And the second email alias is used when you receive details of customer from the contact form on your website.

Hello Smita,

Thanks for the response. what i understand from your answer about second option is that if a user comes to your website and fills the contact then it will create the lead when i use the second email alias option(which is in crm settings). Is it right what i am getting?

But according to me, the user fills the contact form does not require email alias to generate leads. It automatically generate leads when when user submit the form and it does not require email alias option to be true. please let me know if i am wrong.

Hello Gautam,

If you create a contact us form on your website, you can select various actions to be performed on those information like "create a customer" or "create an opportunity". Selecting these two options will straight away create a lead or an opportunity for you. But, if you select the action as "send an email" there you can configure an email address on which you will receive these forms as emails.

ok. but i haven't found "send as email" option. And one question i want to ask related to email alias that is when i set up mail alias, each incoming mail creates a new lead and also it creates leads for social and promotional mail while setting up mail alias. So i want to ask how to ignore this issue and get only inbox mails? may i get help on this issue please?
