Dear all,

I have noticed that almost all chart of accounts (at least the one I have tested) does not have the account of "view type".

I know one of the changes in Odoo was accounting related but it seems strange that we cannot setup a chart of accounts with full structure including organizational accounts (view type).

Also noticed if I want to create one of this account types (view), I cannot see the View option on account type.

I am testing on Comunity version and tested several chart of accounts.

Do I require to activate anything? I also tested on debug mode

Any advise?

Regards

We cam across the same issue and I totally agree. A chart of accounts without a hierarchical views is pretty useless. However I found this description (http://bloopark.de/website/image/ir.attachment/3418_7a2f396/datas) where it seems to be possible, but this again seems not to be the community edition. In fact I do not even find a reporting menu anymore in odoo 9, this seems to have shifted somehow in the account submenu for some reason.

Did you get any answer from odoo or did you find a way to get this view back?

Michafn, I will give a look on the url you posted. Thank you. I am still looking for a solution for this since in our country we really need accounts of view type, not just because customers wants this accounts but mainnly for legal purposes. Thank you once again

Michafn, the url you sent is the standard odoo v9 enterprise process for new reporting. It does not represent any account of view type there.

well that is correct, but there might be a chance to use this logic to show an account hierachy. But I agree this is not exactly what we need and not a good solution either. If this feature is not availble anymore, this might become a show stopper for us to use odoo 9. It would be very helpful if someone from odoo could drop a statement here. They seem not to be quite responsive unless selling partnerships or enterprise plans, unfortunately.

https://odoo-community.org/groups/contributors-15/contributors-27018?mode=thread . it seems that this is indeed a gap in odoo 9 and the view type in the chart of accounts has been removed on some weird purpose

I've read many of the links provided here and elsewhere, including Odoo Community Association's accounting gap analysis document, Fabian P.'s responses to why hierarchical charts of accounts add unnecessary complexity and more. I have not found a practical illustration from start to finish: Start: Create a simplified chart of accounts. Include, for example, two or more expense categories. Finish: Show a view or report consolidating the expenses in each category, then show the consolidation of all expenses. Alternately: Explain the 'Odoo v9' way to summarize journal entries. Is this some sort of tags we haven't found yet?

I would like to see a guide for how to use 'tags' to achieve something similar to what we had in Odoo v8. This is a major loss for me...

It would appear that view accounts have been discontinued. You can now use tags as a way of grouping accounts, but not sure if any of the standard reporting is set to use tags.

Dear Kevin. Hope not. It does not make any sense to use most of chart of accounts without a way to organize them. It's a basic accounting practice and this is done woth accounts of view type. Perhaps the tags solution you provided is an additional option, but anyway, let's wait to see if someone has another solution/explanation for this issue. Anyway, thank you very much.

I agree less that ideal - I can see why they have done as ties in to the new financial reporting structure. But most of my client use the view accounts. Plus not sure now how you can do group accounting with no consolidation accounts

https://www.odoo.com/apps/modules/9.0/gts_coa_hierarchy_v9/ is not community base app.

If V9/10 do not provide a way to view and modify the type of COA then, should We stay on version 8?, what do you all think?.

I hope that on V11 things come back as on V8.
