Hi Guys,

I am a newbie, so my apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. Trying to get my head around Odoo.

We have Odoo 10 installed in a linux server and want to use a Windows machine as POS. The Windows machine will have printer, barcode scanner etc connected. Do I need to install Odoo into this machine or do I simply use a browser to access POS? If so, how will POS connect/communicate with the peripheral devices?

Thanks in advance,

Eddie

Please read the documentation: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/user/10.0/point_of_sale/overview/setup.html. To access Odoo POS, a browser is enough, but if you want to access your peripheral devices, you can either use a POSBox or make a POSBoxless setup, which requires a local Linux box to run Odoo. Maybe it could be technically possible to use a local Windows box, but the efforts to make it run would probably be fare more expensive than to buy a POSBox.
