Hai Friends ,

To add customisation in OpenERP - Many of user suggestto code a custom module. But it is possible to do the same using WEB USER INTERFACE. So what are the advantages/disadvantages of code over software customisation.

Advantages of a custom module:

  • Easy deployment. If you have DEV-, TEST-, and Production environment, you save a lot of time because you only have to declare the changes once but you can install the module several times.
  • Changes endure updates. If you customize a view in the web interface (e.g. sale order), then your changes will be lost when you perform an update of the Sales module.
