Hi Experts,

I'm currently testing Odoo for my hardware store.

Scenario:

I'm buying 1 box of Nuts and Bolts from the supplier and I will sell them per piece.

Question:

How am I going to do that in Odoo?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ludo,

Thank you for the reply. How will the system know the number of pieces in each box?

Scenario:

I am going to buy 1 box of nuts and bolts for USD50 with 10pcs of nuts and bolts each box and I'm going to sell each piece of nut and bolt for USD5.

Thank you and Regards,

JIN LEAL

Hi Jin. When you create a new UoM for "box", if will need a reference UoM. In this case it will be pieces. After that you should be able to tell Odoo that the UoM box is "greater than the reference UoM" and you will be able to tell by how much that is. If you supply for example 100, then buying one "box" of bolts will be the equivalent of buying 100 individual bolts.

Take a look at "Unit of Measure" in Odoo.

  1. Check configuration of your database for sales/purchases/warehouse and find the option "Use multiple units of measurement" or something similair.
  2. Check your user to see if he/she is able to select multiple UoM's on a product.
  3. Go to a product and find that you have the option to set either purchase or sale UoM to "pieces" while leaving the other at "box". If you have not yet defined box, do so creating a new UoM.

Hello Jin,

Go to Settings -> Configuration -> Warehouse, and then tick on Manage different units of measure for products to allow products to let you configure different units of measure and then click to apply.

now go to product view and configure product accordingly. from Procurement tab, you can configure purchase unit of measure, here in your case choose box. and from Information tab, set unit of measure as piece as this will be set for your sale order.

Note - If you want you customize or create new unit of measure according to your requirement, go to warehouse -> Configuration -> Unit of measure.

You can review this link too. will give idea to maintain UOM for manufacturing too.
Hope this will help you.
