My boss would like to get Odoo implemented ASAP.

I know he means Project, Inventory and Manufacturing, but the accounting department thinks we should setup our Chart Of Accounts and all other accounting features like purchasing and invoicing (we may use Enterprise, or may stick with Community, we're still on the fence about that)

So my question is this: Is it a big mistake to get started with Project, Inventory, Manufacturing and add the accounting/invoicing portion later?

I realize I will be missing all the financial transactions until I get the CoA, Purchasing, Invoicing, and analytic accounting parts added.

Hi Michael:

Set up the Chart of Accounts first if you have received approval to implement Accounting. That way you will not have any rework when you implement the other modules.

Budget permitting, this would be the order I would recommend considering the dependencies between the modules:

1. Accounting (everything will ultimately be linked to it)

2. Inventory (Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales and Invoicing will need this, especially the Product master, to be in place)

3. Purchasing (you will need to procure products before you can manufacture/sell your products)

4. Projects, Manufacturing (so you can automatically trigger these processes from your Sales cycle)

5. Sales and Invoicing

Hope this helps.
