I'm new to odoo and in very beginner phase, I read online that when it comes to up-gradation odoo community version is a mess and generates issues. is it true that community version is likely impossible to upgrade?
and when we upgrade any app through UI all the changes we have made will lost, them my question is why they provide this feature to make changes through UI

The Odoo upgrade service is limited to enterprise edition, that means, if you are using Odoo community edition, you cannot use the odoo upgrade service for it.
There will be third party upgrade services provided by OCA open upgrade projects and Odoo partners, you may have to use those or write the migration scripts your own to migrate the Odoo community database's to a higher version.
Regarding the changes you do through the user interface, if you are editing directly the existing views, it will be lost on upgrading the corresponding module.
The best practice is to do via inherited views or using custom modules.
