Documentation suggests that checking 'subcontracting' in Manufacturing configuration setting will allow a 'subcontractor' contact type to be created.

When I use the 'add' option to add a contact to an existing supplier the 'subcontractor' option is not available.

The subcontracting settings only adds a BoM type, not a contact type.

In a BoM, you can now select Subcontracting, which will prompt for you to select a subcontractor. This list of partners isn't filtered by anything special, there's no flag to say that someone is a subcontractor.

Jake, Thanks for your quick response. Googling the topic returned, among other, this page: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/user/13.0/manufacturing/management/subcontracting.html

It describes contacts of type 'subcontractor' and seems to imply that a receipt on a p/o directed to this type of contact 'know how to perform the proper actions during posting'.

Is this not the case or are you basing your response on an earlier version of Odoo?

It looks like it was removed on July 31st in this commit https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/33cf89a6c675744338654ebf66e3c75f77bb341c#diff-23fb1bc08f82aa91ad0fe54a6571ebe1

It's likely the documentation just hasn't been updated yet to reflect the changes.
