Has anyone encountered a problem with tax not always caculating on a SO line. We put a check in so that the users can catch, but would like to know if anyone else has hit the problem before investigating further.

In official installation, this seems working fine. Did you do any customization?
Not for this action. Has been happening a few times a month for my client. We put a warning message in to alert the user to re-calculate taxes (which then calculate correctly) and are now putting is a table to track instances plus re-try 3 times before warning user, so with some data may be able to see what is happening.
Its not a consequence of changing the customer or discounts part way through creating the order is it? - eg if you change the "discount terms" you need to either delete/replace the line item in order for changes to be accepted - Remember the browser view you see is only a previously requested screen view! Would / are the taxes be calculated correctly when you press "Confirm Order"
Thanks for that - this client is using the GTK client, but I will do some extra testing on this point
