My company sells software on a subscription basis. I currently have the product set up as Service in Product Type. We also sell services. What I am trying to do is figure out how to see the product margins for these items without making them storable and therefore needing to add them to my inventory since they are not inventory items. Any help would be appreciated.

the margin is the difference between sale price and cost price, thus it depends mainly on your costing not your product type
For your specific example your product types should be a service and in your product categories you should a fixed costing method, set the cost on the product itself
to have proper reporting for margin, go to settings and enable margin reports in accounting
