Hello,

I recently started using the service type product and I am having trouble with delivering the sold service. When I confirm a sale of this product type it does not create a delivery order. The problem is that I cannot generate an invoice unless the product is marked as delivered in the sales order line. If someone could please help me understand how to deliver this service, and how to prevent this from happening in the future I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

You can change the product type "consumable" instead of "services". When you confirm the sales order it will create delivery order with this product type.

You can change product type as mentioned if no other mandatory requirements to keep the product type as "service". It depends on other factors. Means changing this would not impact other configuration and biz requirements. Like you are not using project and time sheets apps for charging your services.

Based on available information above suggestion to change the product type will work for you; I believe

A service can't be delivered, as there is no tracking of the quantity stored or bought, lets say a service may be 5 hours, you don't deliver 5 hours, you invoice 5 hours. You should check the odoo documentation, as if you want to deliver any units you are not using the right category.

Thanks for the explanation and recommendations. This is a very strange way to run service orders in my opinion but I digress. I resolved the issue by first creating a server (w/contextual) action to rest the sales order to draft. From there I was able to change the product type re-confirm the sales order to generate a delivery order. Situation resolved.

Setup the Services as a "service" and deliver it by manually editing the delivered quantity on the orders. Or specify it will be delivered by timesheets or task completion.
