I'm taking a very quick evaluative look at Odoo. I see there is (among other things) a Contacts app and a CRM app. I'm surprised to see this; normally I would use CRM to mange all my contacts. I therefore expected to see tight integration between the two but there does not seem to be any. For example, when creating a new Opportunity in CRM, I should be able to look up a Contact but there does not seem to be this possibility. Are these two apps integrated with each other and if so how? I would not want to enter information about a person more than once!

Contacts is a directory like app in Odoo to store contacts   partners ( customers and  vendors) where as CRM is for managing Leads and Opportunities. So you would see data organised appropriately in each app.  It is completely integrated so you would see contacts available in CRM and also create Contacts from within CRM.

Hi,

The contacts and the customers in the CRM are the same. Both are referring to the same model res.partner. In the contacts app, you can see both the customers and suppliers.

Where inside the Customers list you will only see the res.partner record with customer boolean field is ticked.

First, you can create a contact in the Contacts app, give a name for the Contact

After creating the contact in the contacts apps. If you are going to  CRM for creating a new opportunity, and if you want to assign the same contact that we have created earlier for this opportunity, just select it from the customers list.

If you want to create a new contact/customer from the CRM for the opportunity, you can tick the create a new customer option from the above wizard. Then you will get a new customer/contact in the name of this Lead.

Thanks
