I have the (free) Sales app installed but not the (paying) Accounting app.
When i want to change a quotation to an actual order, i get the Server error "Please define an accounting sales journal for this company."
In online search results people always refer to the accounting app to set up such journal ... so i wonder if i can work around this without having the buy the accounting app.
It would be kind of strange that you cannot use the sales functions without the accounting app
Ok i found it. Without installing Accounting i went to Apps
Removed the 'Apps' filter that is there by default, then searched for the country of (each of) my companies, and add the accounting module (l10n_xx)
Hope this helps other people running into this issue.
It seems that you haven't installed the chart of Accounts for the company. But the COA will install if you select the country for the your DB.
You can create a new journal from
Invoicing >> Configuration >> Journals >> Create your new sales journal
