Hello Community.

I am evaluating Odoo to see if we will use it at our company however i feel that i need to know some more about restore database.

1. Do a database backup also contain email and logos on CRM contacts, will a database backup backup absolutely everything thats inside Odoo?

2. I did a test, i created several contacts and some products, i made a backup of the database by loging out of odoo and in the login screen choosing manage database and backup. I then choose to restore the database and enter a other name "test" After a while i get error 502 Proxy error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /web/database/restore. Reason: Error reading from remote server

If i refresh the window i can see that the database has been created and but i get invalid response if i try to login.

Before i start to enter a lot of data i want to make sure the backup function works so can anyone help me figure out why i cant restore the backup?

Hello Axel and thank you for the response.

There should be no proxy " as im aware of" I am using the virtual build for Azure gathered from Bitnami. Its a virtual machine with ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Odoo Version 9.0c-20160620 (Community Edition).

I noticed one thing. If i wait like 15 minutes and try to login to the new database it works. As i can see everything has been restored so im a little confused about the error. Could it be that something is missing or is everything actually correct even thou the error. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this, any help in that matter would be great full, when looking at the server log of Odoo there is no error.

All depends of what kind of reverse proxy are you using and how it's configured, I'm specifically talking about read timeouts that could cause the interruption of the long request for restoring the database. Nginx?, CaddyServer? Apache?, HAproxy?

Could be something also related to the health check of the proxy for the upstreams servers in some cases. But it's a matter of properly configure the reverse proxy server
