We have a product that we manufacture that has multiple components that are also manufactured by us. When I set up a "reordering rule" for the final product, a MO is created for that final product, but I feel like there has to be a way to get the other MO's for the sub-products to appear as well because they aren't right now. So ideally I'll set a min/max limit for the final product and it will create MO's for the final product and all components that go into it. What step am I missing to get this to function correctly?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Accounting
- Inventory
- PoS
- Project management
- MRP

To have Odoo automatically create manufacturing orders for the sub-products when you create a reordering rule for the final product, you need to set up a bill of materials (BOM) for the final product that includes the sub-products as components.
Here are the steps to set this up:
- Go to the "Manufacturing" app and select the "Bill of Materials" menu.
- Create a new BOM for the final product by clicking the "Create" button.
- In the "Components" tab, add the sub-products as components and specify the required quantities.
- Save the BOM.
Once you have set up the BOM, you can create a reordering rule for the final product as usual. When the stock level of the final product falls below the minimum quantity specified in the reordering rule, Odoo will automatically create a manufacturing order for the final product, as well as the sub-products listed in the BOM.
Note that the sub-products must also have their own BOMs set up, otherwise Odoo will not know how to manufacture them. You can create BOMs for the sub-products in the same way as for the final product.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions
You need to create reordering rules also on the components. If you set min / max = 0 the result will be that it creates manufacturing orders are created for the qty you need to create the final product.
