Remaining vacation - Transfer to next year

Dear Odoo community,

I would like to automatically transfer vacation days which have not been taken to the next year.

Example:

An employee has 30 days vacation per year. If the employee takes only 25 days in 2023, the remaining 5 days shall be transferred to 2024. so he wuld have 35 days available in 2024 (30 for 2024 + remaining 5 days from 2023) .This shall be repeated automatically for each employee every year.

There are also additional rules:

I want to set a maximum number of days which can be transferred.
Ideally I would like to have a limited period of time in the next year for which the transferred days are available. In the above example: the remaining 5 days are transferred to 2024, but are only available until end of march 2024.

I guess this is possible using accrual plans, but to be honest I am not really able to set it up correctly. In addition I have no idea, how to test these accrual plans. Is there a possiblity to set some kind of "virtual" current time (in the future) to see, how the accrual plans would evolve over time - or sime kind of simulation over a given period of time?

Hello Benjamin,

You can use accrual plans to set this up.
See Screenshot for an example of how you can set up the plan to carry over a limited amount of days to the next year.

This will help you with your first rule. Since now you can only carry over 5 days per year.

For the next part I am not sure, but you could try the following.
If you want to make them only available until march, you need to allocate the accrued time and make it valid from e.g. 1/1/2024 until 31/3/2025. (You can only specify a data with a time off type based on allocation. )
The part I'm not sure of is, whether all days will carry over until the 31st of March, or only the 5 days.
