Hi,

We manufacture up to 15 different products each day currently our process takes us from a confirmed sales order to auto-generating a Manufacturing order ready for planning.

before planning I am creating quality checkpoints for that particular product comprising of checking length, taking a photo, and a general pass/fail.

I'm wondering if this is the best way or only way to achieve this but it does result in having to create 3 checkpoints up to 15 times a day to accommodate our product list.

I've look into routes but I'm not really sure how this would be achieved.

I would like it that once the work order is created the QC for that work order is automatically created with the 3 checkpoints.

Is this possible?

I'm on odoo 12

You create a quality Control point. Specify the product (and variant if used), operation (Receipt, Internal transfer, Manufacturing or Delivery. In your example use Manufacturing. ) Specify Work center if you use Work orders.

Create control points before the manufacturing order are created, and then control checks are automatic created on the manufacturing order.

Absolutely, automating quality control in manufacturing is a great way to streamline processes and reduce manual workload. Given that you're producing up to 15 different products daily and need to set up three QC checkpoints per product, manually creating these checkpoints each time can be time-consuming.

Using MES software, or similar solutions, you should be able to automate the creation of QC checkpoints as soon as a work order is generated. One way to achieve this is through predefined quality control templates that are automatically linked to specific product types.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Automated QC Creation with Work Orders – Configure your MES or ERP system to trigger QC checkpoints automatically when a manufacturing order is created. Each product can have predefined quality checks (length measurement, photo capture, pass/fail) that apply automatically.
  2. Using Routes & Templates – If your system supports routing, you can create a standardized route for each product type with predefined quality checkpoints, ensuring consistency and automation.
  3. Custom Scripting or Integration – If your current system lacks built-in automation, consider a small customization or integration with a quality module that can auto-generate QC tasks per work order.

Many modern MES solutions, including those from INS3, provide configurable workflows that allow for automated quality control checkpoints, minimizing manual effort while ensuring compliance.

Would love to hear if others have tackled similar challenges—how are you managing automated QC in manufacturing?
