Hello,

As you can see in the two screenshots, the first one is a YouTube channel (and not the only one) with a Profit and Loss account that shows specific and logical journals. However, on mine, I have something else that doesn’t seem logical to me, even though it’s the default native journal—I haven’t changed anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

@alexis Even if the tax systems are different, do you find it logical that the profit and loss accounts are the following?

  • Profit account: 758000 Other Operating Income
  • Loss account: 657000 Exceptional Operating Charges

And that there is no specific 'profit' or 'loss' account, unlike in other frameworks?

Hi Imad - can you explain what you mean by "there is no specific profit or loss account, unlike in other frameworks"

Profit or Loss is a total calculated from various Revenues and Expenses

Hi,

The "Exchange Rate Gain" and "Exchange Rate Loss" accounts appear in your Profit and Loss (P&L) report due to multi-currency transactions and fluctuating exchange rates. Realized gains/losses occur upon transaction settlement, while unrealized ones arise from revaluing open invoices/accounts.

To troubleshoot, verify your multi-currency configuration, analyze related journal entries, check account types, review reconciliation processes, and examine unrealized gain/loss settings. Ensure accurate exchange rates, proper revaluation, and correct data entry. If issues persist, contact Odoo support.

Hope it helps

Thank you for your feedback, but my configuration is the default/native one. I haven't changed anything

Hello,

The first thing I notice is that the fiscal position is different.

In the video, we’re following the US GAAP standards, whereas your database is set up with the French accounting framework (PCG). That’s why the accounts are different.

The second thing I notice is that what you’re showing is a cash journal, not a bank journal.

A cash journal is used to manage cash transactions, as you would typically do in a retail environment, for example.

For a cash journal, the accounts look correct according to the French PCG:

  • Cash account: 530
  • Suspense account: 471
  • Profit account: 758
  • Loss account: 658

If it were a bank journal, we would instead have:

  • Bank account: 512
  • Suspense account: 471
  • Profit account: 758
  • Loss account: 658

Hope this helps!
