Hello all,

I am using Odoo 16, and we have this pressing issue with our replenishment operation. To give the details and the parameters of the item, they are below:

Product type: Storable
Bill of material type: Manufacture this Product.
Manufacturing lead time: 120 days(for the components and the assembly both)
Route: Manufacturing
reordering rule is set.(Trigger: Manual)

Note: The main assembly BOM is a nested BOM, which contains hardware which are ready to use in assembly, raw material to make components and finally the kits. Kits are there to make the BOM structure easier, it contains components which are repeated on an attribute of the finished good. Kit also has BOM which contains group of components again there are hardware and Components which consume raw material. All of the raw material consuming components have their Bill of material as we manufacture them.

To exemplify the information about BOM structure:

BOM FOR ASSEMBLY(FINISHED GOODS) CONTAINS:
1. HARDWARE
2. RAW MATERIAL
    1.BILL OF MATERIAL
3. KIT
    1. HARDWARE
    2. RAW MATERIAL
        1.BILL OF MATERIAL

When the sales order is confirmed I can see the demand for the assembly generated in replenishment module, and thus we convert the demand to Manufacturing order. Once the order is generated, we used to assign the schedule start date to all the MO and work orders. Shortly after this, the product which we already sent to manufacturing are popping up in the inventory replenishment. so we stopped the date assignment to avoid this issue and it worked at some extent. But the item keep showing up again after some point. So is there any way to get rid of the whole dating thing in replenishment? it can tell us that we could be late to build this item, but do not generate new demand for the same item.

Any suggestion or help would be really appreciated.

thank you.

Hello Lars Aam,
thanks for the reply. I checked that and yes our MFG lead time is higher than customer lead time(we haven't set up these at all). The reason behind this is to plan the production within the span of 4 months in advance. With reduced lead time, we might not be able to plan the production until the date comes and then it will show up in replenishment so is there any way to get around with this and plan the production ahead in time? I also could not find any way to locate the "Just In Time" settings, if you know where it is in the Odoo 16 would be really helpful!

Thanks again!

Check the requirement date on the Delivery created from the sales order.  If the manufacturing order is late according to the delivery date, it might pop up with new requirement.

If your Manufacturing time is 120 days, your sales (customer lead time) must be more than 120 days.  It is the customer lead time that set the requirement date on the delivery

You can also see what and why if you open the Forecast report on the product.
