Just wondering if the product can be sold in a box (say10 pieces), or can be sold based on pieces. Should I create two products? If not, how to set it?

You could create product packages, enable in setting > sales > product packaging
Define the package options on the product template > inventory tab > packaging

I tried following the above settings. Say 1 box got 10 units.
But it didn't reflect on the product page that can select either 1 box or 1 unit when ordering. Actually, where should I set this?

>From your initial question I assumed your sales through sales app.
For ecommerce you might require to use product variants. On the catalog / product template 1 product is visible to customer, while the packaging options can be selected prior to adding to cart.
You can create an Attribute for 'Packing Options' (Website configuration) and provide the values. On the individual product templates, 'variants' tab you can add this attribute and applicable values for that product and "Configure Variants" to provide the "extra
value price"
