Hello!

I've been trying to automatically create packages from my production.

I try to explain:

- I have product A, I set-up a package of 5.

- Then I trigger a production order for 50.

- I have 3 step production, for pick material, produce and store finished goods.

- When storing finished products I would like to store 10 packs, instead of 50 units.

I mean, after producing units I need the packed into packs.

I'm using V.16. and the only way to do this is when storing I create several lines manually splitting my quantity and putting them into packages.

Or even, when in post-production I have a rule to ship to client from there, so having the packages already created, would be easier to create labels and everything, something like box 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10, etc etc

Any possible way for doing this without external apps?

Thanks for your answers.

Indeed, I know how to create packages, the problem I see is that in inventory you have to know exactly your packaging and then divide your qty and split into packages this by manually adding lines, writing the packaging qty into each line, for a big production this could lead to error really quick.

So if I understand to Lars, there's no possible way to do this automatically?

Thanks, I did suspect I wasn't specifically addressing the question.
That is correct, there isn't a way to create packages with a fixed product and qty automatically without customization.
The current functionality manages packages which can have multiple products and varied qty, while creating and managing packages (creating, adding products & qty, removal or unpacking) are manual.

But it should not be to difficult to create a server action, you can use when the situation is what suit this. For user: Push a button (or from the action menu) that divide qty into product package qty, and create the packages.
I am in a middle of a project where we will develop something similar. (But not exactly the same). Most likely ready in Q4.

Buenos días,

En este momento me encuentro fuera de la oficina, estaré de regreso el 16 de septiembre. Para cualquier emergencia o solicitud especial por favor escribir al mail soporte.odoo@ymant.com

Gracias,

As I'm struggling with the same issue, I'm wondering if you found a solution on this case?

Something like that will be absolutely great, a button next to the actual "PUT IN PACKAGE"  that you push when you want to create packages and it takes your defined packaging... thanks to both for your answers

It is possible to track packages rather than individual product move. Enable 'Move entite package' on inventory operation configuration.

Use 'Put in Pack' as you have descriped during a transfer process (post production to stock or any transfer operation). The package will have to be assigned in detail information screen by adding a line for each package.

The subsequent transfers can be done on the packages

On validation of transfer

Hope this addresses the question.

I think he knows how to create packages in transfers. The question is: How to create packages automatic or at least quick.
Let say you manufacture 500 pcs. And want to store and ship in packages of 5. You need to create 100 packages. This is at least 200 mouse clicks. Tedious work that got a potensial to be more efficient. (If you can write a rule, you can create a program for it.)

In Odoo, you can define Product Packaging: Product, qty and package type. But this can only be used for Sales and purchase order and not in inventory. Not even in goods receipt, when purchase in packages you can create the same package automatic for storage.
The product package function should not be to difficult to extend into use in inventory, and create a function in transfer and manufacturing to automatic put products into packages.

That is correct, I don't believe there is a quick & easy way to work with packages with the current functionality and do agree there is scope to improve.
