On OE18 I see how i can put several products on several boxes using the pcakage feature.

Then when I have a PACK0001 and a PACK0002 (as boxes) I don't get how to place them on PALETT001 (as a pallet)

Furthermore I would like to configure this at the product level (at least for the boxes) and haven't find anyway to do it.

Any help  is welcome

Regards

Hello Maurice Moretti,

I understand your problem, we have something similar. We need a nested package system.

Our goal is to have a package list for our customer which looks like:

PACKAGE001 (Type Pallet):

PACKAGE018(Type box-small):

Product1 qty 10

Product2 qty 5

Product3 qty 20

PACKAGE033(Type box-big):

Product4 qty 100

PACKAGE2(Type Pallet):

PACKAGE034(Type box-big):

Product4 qty 100

PACKAGE035(Type box-big):

Product4 qty 100

There could be a workarround if you use multi step warehouse routes like pick & pack & ship.

In the pack transfer you pack the products to the "box" type packages.

In the ship transfer you take these packages as source - will be done automatically - and for destination you create new packages with type "pallet". You have to do that manually.

You have to take the information from detailed operations and use that in your custom report "print package list" to show the customer which product is in which box and which box is on which pallet.

Im still looking for a better solution..

Dear Elmar,

I managed to make the first step PACKAGE018,033,034 and 035 but then in the next step I cannot put the box in Pallet

Dear Maurice, you have to enable "Move entire packages" for the pack and ship operation.
The problem is, you cant really nest the packages. In the pack transfer you put the products in the boxes. Result is you get a list of boxes as packages. In the ship transfer you take the products out of those packages and put them into the new package pallet. But from pack operation you know the content of the boxes and you can print the package label.

Dear Elmar, OK i came to the same result as you, but I understood that in some way you found a solution to have nested packages. I now realize you are stuck as I am. Don't understand how this is not working in Odoo because it is a common behaviour. I will raise a request to Odoo R&D

Hi many thanks for your reply, but that does not solve my problem.

Basically I would like to include (small) packages in a (bigger) package and that does not seem to be handled by Odoo

You can only include products in a package.

Big customers usuallt store on a single pallets, several layers of boxes each containing some products.

Could not find any way to handel this with OE 18
