No, we cannot remove product page ID from product or page URL, for technical reasons.

Instead we are allowed to shorten, if needed, URL by writing down a more concise one. As per default, product URL is being set on product name, in case of longer product name, we can get URL shorter.

The best practic is probably avoiding very long product name in order URL to be ipso facto shorter.

I don't believe this is possible (someone may prove me wrong) because the id is what is used to determine what product is used. This video explains how it works for blogs, I would imagine it works in the same way for products.

It means if you send someone a link to a blog/product and you change the name thus changing the URL it will still redirect them to the correct page. It also enables you to reduce the length of the URL by removing the text and keeping the id.
