Hi there I am looking for somebody that has had success/ experience in implementing Odoo in a Textile manufacturing environment. We have been busy for the past 4 months and am starting to have my doubts as to whether Odoo is the right ERP system for this type of environment. I would appreciate anybody pointing me in the right direction as I would really like to make it work for our specific industry.

Yes Odoo can be used for your requirement. And if you face any difficulty to mange your inventory and it's operation in dual units of measure, then we have the solution for that as well.

We have developed set of custom modules to manage this as 'CatchW8', where you can manage the inventory, sales, purchase, invoicing, manufacturing etc. in dual units of measure. So in your case you can manage in units as well as rolls.

Hey,

We have successfully implemented a customized version of the Odoo MRP system into a manufacturing company that creates several variants of the same product. As I assume is one of your main issues. The process is long and complicated for sure, I suggest mapping it out in the simplest form where you draw out all the functionalities you need, then to revisit your technical design.

Some pointers that might help you are:
1- Think of the big picture and don't think of how you would deal with every single variation of the product from the get go, that's just a sure way of getting yourself lost.
2-  Customization is going to be needed, so don't resist it too much.
3- If you are the business owner or know the business owner, try to tell the story of the business; eg. First, we get an order that decides what we want to make, based on that we buy our raw material.. etc.
4- You can never automate 100% of the business, so aim for 90% and you should be golden.

Although the points up there might not solve your technical issues, we found that after a long time working on one project it's good to come back to the basics and take a step back, so hopefully they will help you like it helped us take a breather and rethink our strategy a bit.

I hope this helped you, if you feel like you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll hopefully be of more assistance.

Happy coding and meticulous testing,

Hi,

Odoo MRP can be used for this purpose, there will be many users who uses the odoo MRP for such industries, but it may be tough for you to find those peoples here in the forum.

I will suggest you to have a look at the Odoo MRP and try to map it with yours. If you are tough get the workflow of the flow, get in touch with any of the odoo partners and get a demo from them.

May be some customizations are needed to suite the odoo MRP with your process and workflow still you can use the Odoo as a solution.

Thanks
