We are considering giving odoo community a shot for a manufacturing business, maybe a total of 15 users that would access various modules.  We have a new windows server but no in-house IT.   I saw recco's of using Ubuntu.  Can that be run on our server effectively or should we consider hosted server?    Any recommendations would be helpful!

Thanks!

Thanks for reply!  Are there recommended hosting partners for odoo community version?

There are a lot of good ones. For example Digital Ocean or OVH.

Hi Steven,

A big part of this decision depends on yourself. In general I'm personally for hosting in the cloud. These days uptime and guarantees are nearly impossible to reach locally. When you buy a VPS in the cloud you get an almost all time uptime and all the infrastructure etc is handled by your cloud provider. Pricing in the cloud isn't very expensive these days anymore and well.. The numbers speak for their selves.

Nevertheless if you want to have everything locally and if you want to learn more about managing your servers and hardware then give it a go locally. Just remember that you always change from one option to another.

Regards,

Yenthe

Check out here https://reviewsignal.com/webhosting#tab2

It sounds as you have no ubuntu or general linux experience.

You should therefore go with managed plans to avoid the various admin overheads, and also chose one that has fairly easy admin panel, ex. cPanel/WHM.

any more recommendations for managed hosting for Odoo community?

This is for a company for 10-15 users and no in-house IT.

Thanks!
