I have some working examples in V7 but i guess as it is javascript in the core you can use it with any version of Odoo

I used the systemjs to load the angular stuff and extented a "dummy" fieldchar that i extend. This will be replaced by the angular and can be used to pass data back to the odoo interface.

for backend access i make a call to a function in odoo and have the returend defferd object converted to an observable
