We are now planning to migrate from Odoo 14 to 16.

Currently we are on Odoo.sh with quite a few customisation scripts.

We are looking for advice if we can use Odoo Studio for customisation, instead of doing the coding, scripts etc. Any limitations or advantage going with Odoo Studio.

Would appreciate your experience, expertise, feedback.

We are a Trading/Distribution companay based in Dubai.

It really depends on the type of customisations you did. One thing to keep in mind is that custom python code (like in a cron or an automated action) won't be migrated by odoo, they might break after the migration process and it'll be your responsibility to check and fix them. I would say that if you already have the know-how to create the custom modules it would be easier for you to keep migrating them.

Thanks Francois for your suggestion

Hi,

If you think the needed customization can be done via studio, then it is better to do with the studio itself. Because on later migration to higher version, it will be easy.

And there are things, which cannot be done via studio, in such cases we have to go for custom modules.

Thanks

Thanks Niyas for the quick response.
We are facing exactly the situation you described.
We will have to test and maybe rework the customisation scripts after migration.
We are trying to understand the limitations of working with Odoo Studio.
If anyone can share their experience, will really appreciate.

suppose if you need to send a MTD report of sales(with some calculations) on daily basis from the system to some mails in a specified format, you may feel it will be difficult with studio
