Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
When I print order for example :

And for some reason, there is a huge gap between number and text.

Hi,
Please put your question, in brief, like where you face this problem, in which model, module, version etc.
You can manage this by using CSS styling or managing div by class.
Please first refer using of Bootstrap classes and CSS styling.
Please try to put inline CSS in template.
style='padding-right:10px;'
There is no specific additional plugins or anything , stock odoo 12 with installation of POS module and that's it.
I'll share a video
And I tried to edit that in css file but nothing

well you havent given much information on which order is it, SO or a POS order but the solution might be the same.
make sure that you enable the Technical features (DEBUG MODE) and then go to
Settings then Technical then Reports and Paper format.
Choose the one that is in use right now in order to change its settings.
There are many options to tweak on the paper format but all of them are clearly explained and you will tweak your line separation distance on the report and i think that you will be fine.
If you have any trouble with this let us know
