Hello,

I am new to Odoo and considering Odoo Enterprise for our company. I have a few questions that I am hoping to get detailed answers to.

1) We use magento as our ecommerce system and I can see that Odoo has many integrations. Can anyone comment on their personal experience with them?

2) We do not maintain any inventory and all products are dropshipped. I understand Odoo has a workflow that will automatically create a purchase order when a sales order has been submitted and takes care of a large number of transactions. Now the problem I have is the following. Every product we sell can be completely customized by the customer on our store and depending on how they customize it the price will go up, or down. So when the order is submitted with 3 line items, each line item can be the following:

  • Item A for $20

  • Item A for $60

  • Item A for $120

I am assuming it's possible to import that information directly into the sales order in Odoo. However since the price varies greatly depending on the customized options, so does the cost of goods sold. Normally we receive the updated prices when we submit our order with our suppliers. What would be the best way to go about this?

3) Taxes, taxes and taxes. We are located in Canada and Taxes vary by province. Since we cater to every province we need to charge accordingly. Magento currently takes care of it with no issues. Can the data be imported properly and maintained within Odoo? Secondly does Odoo have a module for payroll taxes etc?

4) Importing bills. Is it possible to import bills in bulk using an importer from for example a csv format and then reconciling it against Purchase Orders?

Thank you.

It seems like your plan is to interface your Odoo with various 3rd party applications (ecommerce, billing, 3pl, taxes). Is your question exclusively geared towards interfaces or are you open to reconsider and use Odoo's modules for these functions? (which would make the answer to this question -and your implementation- much easier)

Hey Fabrice,

So the only custom integration would be the bridge between Magento and odoo. Moving our current product customization engine from Magento to odoo will take months of work so currently it is significantly easier to simply use the integration.

The complications arise because our products are fully customizable. So for example the height, width, color, design, additional options, etc easily make one product have over million different ways to configure it. In odoo what I need is for the following:

- order is received in Magento and fully paid

- odoo makes the initial financial entry for sales

- odoo makes a purchase order against the sale with the same line item description as the sales order. We can manually change the unit prices for now on the purchase order until we figure out a better solution. A PO would have to be made since this is a dropshipment, unless you have a better solution.

- import bills through csv and reconcile against PO

Hi Neal,

Did you ever get this sorted?
