When I run the test for importing my vendors I get a red area with multiple matches for state. When I search the list there are indeed duplicates of states like MA but with different countries. I have already matched the countries but it does not look like when matching the state it looks at the country field first. Is there a work around for this or do I just let it create a new value at import. V16.0 thanks.

When importing vendor data into Odoo, it's possible to encounter an error where multiple matches are found for a specific state. This can occur if the state information in the import file is not consistent or is not in the same format as the state information in the Odoo database.
To resolve this issue, you can do the followin
Verify that the state information in the import file is accurate and consistent. Make sure that the state names and codes match the information in the Odoo databas
Check that the import file is using the correct format for the state information. For example, if the Odoo database is using a two-letter state code, make sure that the import file is using the same forma
Use the Odoo's built-in data import and export tools to map the data fields in the import file to the corresponding fields in the Odoo database. This will ensure that the data is imported correctly and that there are no issues with mismatched field
Look into the data integrity, in some cases you have to check the data that are already exist in the database and try to fix them before importing new dat
You can also try importing a smaller sample of data first to test the import process and identify any issues before importing the full datase
It is important to make sure that the data is consistent and accurate before importing it into Odoo to prevent issues like multiple matches for a stat

Update - I removed all the non US companies and got the same error but yellow and non blocking so I have imported the US companies.
If you have a test environment, you can try to import them without the states column first and then try to update the existing contacts later.
Do you have the exact error, given by Odoo? Are you using the import template from Odoo? Do you have the countries and their states set up prior to this?
