In the video tutorial "Multi Company" the structure shows an independent seperate database for each company with access from the mother company to the subsidiaries (at min 1:06 of the video tutorial).

Then the video describes how to add a company - thats clear but presumably the company is created in the same database than the mother company.

How can I create a subsidiary company within a seperate database and establish a link from the mother company to the subsidiary (so basically the database from the mother company needs to have a link to the database of the subsidiary company).

Hi,

I think it's not necessary to create many databases. With one database, you can manage all your companies, independent one of another.

Odoo's default configuration stores all data in a single database, which can lead to issues if not configured correctly. To properly separate data between multiple companies, you would need to create separate user groups and set up access controls so that users from one company cannot access data from another company.

Please refer to the book https://www.cybrosys.com/odoo/odoo-books/odoo-16-accounting-book/ch7/multicompany-operations-in-odoo/

Hope it helps
