Hello,

I am new to Odoo, and I am facing a strange error when working with group access rights on the Accounting module, while working on a local Odoo 17.0 instance. I created a new group in the group settings of the "Settings" module, and when I try to add certain Menus to this group, the Menu does not appear in the list, and I am unable to find it in the menu search list by clicking "Add a line".

Furthermore, when I log out / log in again, this menu is no longer visible at all and therefore inaccessible in the "Accounting" module for all users, regardless of the group via the buttons. However, they are accessible via their URL. For example, this is the case with the "Accounting/Customers" or "Accounting/Vendors" menu, to which I no longer have access. I also activated the developer mode, but it doesn't change anything.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions, if it might be a misconfiguration on my part?

Thank you and have a good day,

Yanis

Hi,

If you are doing this changes as admin user, make sure admin user is part of this group or do all the changes from the super user mode.

Thanks

Hi Yanis,

In Odoo, if menus disappear after adding them to a custom group in the Accounting module, it's likely due to permissions or access rights configuration. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Group Configuration:

1.Ensure that the custom group you created has the appropriate access rights to view the menus. You can check this by navigating to Settings > Users & Companies > Groups, selecting your custom group, and reviewing the access rights assigned to it.

Menu Access Rights:

2. Verify that the menus you added to the custom group have the correct access rights assigned to them. You can check this by navigating to Settings > User Interface > Menu Items, selecting the menu item, and ensuring that the correct groups are listed under "Access Rights".

Check Inheritance:

3. Ensure that the custom group inherits the necessary access rights from its parent groups. If your custom group is based on an existing group, make sure it inherits the access rights related to menu visibility.

Update Module Settings:

4. After making changes to group permissions or menu access rights, it's important to update the Accounting module to apply the changes. Navigate to Settings > Modules > Update Modules List, and update the Accounting module to reflect the latest configurations.

Clear Browser Cache:

5. Sometimes, menu changes may not be immediately visible due to browser caching. Clear your browser cache and reload the page to see if the menus reappear.

Check User Assignments:

6. Ensure that users who are supposed to see the menus belong to the custom group you created. You can check and modify user assignments by navigating to Settings > Users & Companies > Users.

Review Odoo Logs:

7. If the issue persists, review the Odoo server logs for any errors or warnings related to menu permissions. This can provide insights into any underlying issues that need to be addressed.

By following these steps and ensuring that the custom group has the appropriate permissions and access rights configured, you should be able to resolve the issue of menus disappearing after adding them to a custom group in the Odoo Accounting module.

Feel free to contact me if needed

Hope this will help you.

Thank you for the quick response. :D

I've tried the different solutions, but none of the proposed ones work:

  1. When I add the desired menu in the "Menus" tab and save the changes, the selected menu automatically disappears from the list, which is strange. Additionally, I can still access the views of the different records via the URL; it's only the buttons that disappear.
  2. I can't find this menu. When I go to the "Settings" App, I can't find the "User Interface" menu.
  3. The group doesn't inherit from another group.
  4. I've tried but it doesn't change anything...
  5. I've tried but it doesn't change anything...
  6. All users from all groups lose access to this menu afterwards when I do this.
  7. The only warning I'm getting when I save the modifications is this one, but it doesn't seem to be related: Caches invalidated, signaling through the database: ['default'] I always get this warning when I try to save others menu that doesn't disappear.

I also tried it on the trial version Odoo 17.2, on their website, but I still encounter the same problem...

Thank you very much for your response...
