Short answer: Yes, but it depends on how the template was modified.

In Odoo, once an email template is edited and saved, Odoo does not provide a built-in “undo” or restore option.

1. Duplicate from another database

   • If you have:

     • A fresh test database

     • Another environment (staging / demo)

   • You can copy the original template content from there.

2. Reset via developer mode (limited)

   • If the template was not heavily modified and still linked to its original XML ID, you may:

     • Activate Developer Mode

     • Open the template

     • Use Reset to default (only works in specific cases)

3. Restore from database backup

   • If you have access to backups (Odoo.sh / On-Premise), this is the only guaranteed way to retrieve the original version.

   • Not possible on Odoo Online.

4. Recreate manually

   • Refer to Odoo documentation or default templates

   • Rebuild the template manually

• Odoo does not version email templates

• Once saved, the previous state is permanently lost unless a backup exists

• Duplicate default templates before editing

• Keep a test database for reference

• Export important templates before major changes
